St. Paul Documentary Photographer I have probably said it before, but I will say again how much my own family treasures the photos of our everyday life. We get posed family photos almost every year, but nothing beats looking through photo books of the candid moments, everyday activities and special events. So, I am always over the moon excited when families hire me for in-home storytelling sessions! I followed this family around their home as they just hung out being themselves. The kids played with favorite toys, practiced new skills (like crawling!!), and the whole family walked to their favorite park. I captured new teeth, giggles, cries, cuddles, tickles & peeks. How wonderful to be able to look back on these times and remember not only what they looked like, but also what they felt like!? victoria lifestyle newborn photographer Lifestyle and documentary newborn sessions are some of my very favorite sessions. So, I was thrilled when January was bustling with baby births! I love chatting with mommas of newborns, and watching the parents fall in love with their new babes. And, I love watching the older siblings embrace their new roles. And, since the baby days are over at my house, I really love swaddling and swaying those sweet babies! One of my favorite things about this particular session was how much big sister was in complete awe of her new baby sister. When I walked inside, big sister was snuggling baby girl. I watched her taking in every detail. I also adored the special sign that mom made for Baby B. It read: “On every candle, on every cake. With every prayer our hearts did make. On every star. both far and near. We hoped for you and now you’re here.” Welcome to the world, Baby B. Here are a few a lot of my favorites… I am currently booking newborn sessions. Baby CC recently turned one-year-old, so her family contacted me to document that milestone. I am so glad they did! Minnesota provided a beautiful night with perfect weather. minnetonka lifestyle photographer | last days of summer I’m feeling the calm before the storm in oh so many ways! We’re hanging on to the last shreds of warmth up here in Minnesota. Winter will be here much too soon. Or should I say, “winter is coming!” Sorry, I couldn’t help it 😉 Anyway, before all that, it’s FALL, and that means the fall family photo bonanza fun will soon begin! Before it does, I’m scouting new locations and grabbing some photos of my own family. I also dusted off some rarely used lenses to spark the creative juices. This week, I picked up the lens baby edge 80. I also chose to edit this entire series in b & w. We were in full, mid-day sun, and I felt like the contrast from the harsh light played well with the b & w edit.

st. paul lifestyle newborn photographer OK, I admit it! Older siblings are total wild cards during at-home newborn sessions. It can be even more challenging when they’re toddler or preschool age. But I wouldn’t want it any other way. And, fortunately, having two silly little girls of my own has provided ample hands-on training for these situations! The truth is, the big kids always bring something so genuine to the photos. Their emotions are raw and real. This session with baby girl M was no exception. I absolutely LOVED how baby M’s session turned out. The light in the house was dreamy. Baby girl was gorgeous. Her parents were so in love with her. Everyone was comfortable and relaxed. And, of course, big brother was amazing. He was curious, silly, funny and smart. Here’s a peek at this precious new family of four! I am currently booking in-home newborn sessions and fresh 48 in-hospital sessions for November 2015 and on. Minneapolis family photographer | the S family The majority of my clients are in the suburbs west of Minneapolis. But, I have had several clients in SW Minneapolis lately. (Thanks so much to the families who refer my services, by the way!!) I adore the tree-lined streets, and the charm of the older homes there. And, I am a little jealous of how many great restaurants and cafes are just a stone’s throw away. So, I was pumped to return a couple weeks ago to meet the S family! I know, I know. I probably say it ALL the time. But really, this family is AWESOME! We had a very client-led session. As you’ll see from the images, big sister was totally on board :). She was bursting with creativity and personality. She read books. She played dolls. And, it was with her grandma’s dollhouse! So cool! She dressed up in a princess dress with a cape. She doted on her sweet baby brother. And, at the end of the session, she asked if she could bring out her OWN camera. Um, YES PLEASE!
