well, that didn’t last long!

It’s a rare moment when my two energetic ladies take a moment to relax, but when they do, it’s often so they can sit down with a pile of books. It’s even more rare that these two can sit in the same room while also getting along. Imagine my shock and excitement when both happened….simultaneously. Naturally, I grabbed my camera to document the momentous occasion. Good thing I did, because things returned to “normal” within a few minutes. And I captured that moment as well.

it’s melting!!!!!

We were soooo happy that it was warm enough to get outside (without coats 🙂 ) last weekend! We took a little walk around the neighborhood and even made it to the park. It’s always exciting to find some of nature’s “treasures” when we’re out.

in the cold winter light

It was SO nice to have a touch of real spring temperatures this weekend! I can’t wait until it’s here to stay for a while. In the meantime, here’s a collection of images I took in the beautiful (but freeeeezing!) golden hour light this winter. My daughters are not exactly in love with the frigid temps. My oldest even commented during one of our outings, “mom, you can take as many pictures as you want when its warm out!” Glad she’s on board. And, don’t worry, they actually fight over who gets to go out on photo excursions with mom! Once again, I must give a nod to the talented Summer Murdock, instructor of The Magic of Light workshop at Bloom Forum, who provided much inspiration for these images.

What a joy it was to photograph this little lady, who just celebrated her 3rd birthday! She loves pink, reading, and being an awesome big sister to her four-month-old brother.

Baby Girl B

The cold winter months in Minnesota are perfect for in-home newborn photo sessions! Expecting soon? Or know someone who is? Contact me to get on the schedule! I am offering special pricing for sessions taking place in January and February. I was delighted to be invited into the B family’s home to photograph newborn Baby Girl B. She was just 3 days new during this session. I was in awe of her perfectly pink skin, and rosy red lips and cheeks. She just loved snuggles, too! The entire family was smitten…including her “fur” sister 🙂

Baby Girl W

After photographing one bouncing baby boy after the next (all too precious for words), I got the news that baby girl W had arrived. Eeek! FInally some pink! I met Baby girl W at just one week old and she was simply bursting with sweetness! I held the session in her lovely home, which was full of beautiful natural light. Big sister was gone with Daddy to do some special big sister things, so it was just a quiet house with mom, baby and myself. Despite an early arrival into this big world, Baby girl W was one strong little lady, and quite lively for the first portion of the session! Soon she was ready for a little nap. But first, she got sweet cuddles from momma. Then, it was time for her special pacifier….Baby W’s favorite one….the one that they don’t have a back-up of….the one that her mom said was a gift from someone and (so far) can only be found in a little store in Colorado (which a loooong way from MN!!). Snow Fun!

Being a native Texan, I haven’t gotten used to driving in the snow, or shoveling the snow, or pushing a shopping cart through the snow, and I may never. But, I do really love taking pictures in the snow! A lot. And, it’s even more wonderful when in the middle of a week with temps in the single digits, poof! we got a balmy day with a high of 28 degrees! I was so excited for the “warmer” weather, that after picking up my oldest daughter from preschool, we ditched our coats and went outside for a few minutes of snow play and pictures. Don’t get me wrong, it was still cold out there! Here are some of my favorites…

the L family

I had such a blast working with this family. They truly are as sweet as they are beautiful. With a bag full of prizes, props and treats in-tow for this session, I thought I was prepared for anything that two toddlers could throw at me because, well, what could be LESS fun for two little ones than a photo shoot!? What I didn’t expect was that the two of them would be extra adorable, fun AND cooperative! What a dream! Here are some of the highlights from the session.
